Absolutely loved this 8 month old girl, her flowing Sighthound lines and elegance, standing over good amount of ground and moved with lightness of foot, ease and fluidness.....with some training she will be one to keep an eye on in the future.

Wheaten – just 12 months of age, of great size. Great symmetry and standing over a good amount of ground. Elegant
but masculine neck into well laid shoulders. In good muscular condition. Pleased to see a good width of thigh. Length and angle of croup sweeping into well set tail. Commanding presence on the move, covering ground easily. Reserve Dog Challenge

A truly lovely Sighthound with the ideal majestic presence. Carrying his head with a pride of race. Commanding the

ring as he moved with grace and ease. I couldn’t find anything I’d wish to change on this exciting young male....

what a future he is sure to have in the show ring ..........

The others were absent but this 4 yr. old was a lovely bitch to watch on the move. Enjoyed her long easy fluid gait on a loose lead, sound coming and going. Excellent head planes long and clean. I did forgive her somewhat soft topline, on the stack, wishing to enjoying her easy movement.

CRITIQUE for Irish Wolfhounds April 2021 by Colleen Kirgan-Khoury

Junior

  1.  Wheaten – just 12 months of age, of great size.   Great symmetry and  standing over a good amount of ground.   Elegant but masculine neck into well laid shoulders.

In good muscular condition.   Pleased to see a good width of thigh.  Length and angle of croup sweeping into well set tail.   Commanding presence on the move, covering ground easily.    Reserve Dog Challenge

  1. Long clean head  with  good expression, very well laid shoulders and standing over a good amount of ground. Moved with ease and in good muscular condition.
  2. Not as sound as my previous 2 but of a commanding size and standing over a good amount of ground. Good width of second thigh.

This class was a pleasing start to my day!

Intermediate

  1.  A truly lovely Sighthound with the ideal majestic presence., carrying his head with a pride of race.  Commanding the ring as he  moved with grace and  ease .  I couldn’t  find anything I’d wish to change on this exciting young male…..what a future he is sure to have in the showring ……….

BIS  also awarded the Pines Irish Wolfhound Trophy

  1. Well coated Wheaten,  sound and well conformed throughout,  moved with ease……. his  downfall as a Sighthound was just being a lower on leg Hound in my eyes.

Australian Bred

  1. 5 year old ; clean and straight through head planes. Well angled in  shoulder and hindquarter. Good width of thigh.  Moved with ease although lifts more on pastern than preferred.
  2.  Lacked the required carriage,  albeit was sound and moved lightly and easily covering ground.  On the stack his lack of length of neck  was what let him down with the required Sighthound elegance.
  3. Only 14th months of I would have like to see him stand over more ground, has an unusual topline, and was too steep in croup for the required sweeping outline.

Open

  1. Classic Sighthound outline,  long clean head planes, would prefer finer ears with more rose. A long well muscled neck into shoulders.  Good depth and length,  moved with ease though was comprised on his pasterns.
  2. 5 year who didn’t carry himself with required presence . Lacked the longer lean head planes, his ears were heavy and held no rose. A good width of thigh but didn’t use that on the move

Minor Bitch

  1. Red brindle  with elegant long head planes with pleasing expression, more mature than her age, Long elegant neck into pleasing length of topline. Good texture of coat for one so young.  Covers ground but was in a hurry……….

Puppy Bitch

  1.  Absolutely loved this 8 month old girl, her flowing Sighthound lines and elegance  ,  standing over good amount of ground and moved with lightness of foot, ease and fluidness…..with some training she will be one to keep an eye on in the future.
  2. Wheaten, shown in lovely condition, good texture of coat. I would have liked to see her stand over for ground for her height, too steep in croup which could have been the cause of her restricted hindquarter movement.

Junior Bitch

This was a lovely class of  3 young Sighthound girls, it was really a case of splitting hairs to find my placements.  All were easy movers, carrying themselves gracefully.  All in good muscle tone. My first place  won  on her overall balance and her muscular elegant neck into shoulder.

She did push my Open Bitch for the Challenge.  Reserve Bitch Challenge

Intermediate Bitch

She has  long clean head planes with  a  lovely far seeing expression,

Standing over her ground. She was a fluid easy mover but I felt a better letdown of  hock could had added more power to her hindquarter.

Australian Bred Bitch

  1. Wheaten:  Long clean head planes, very good  sweeping Sighthound lines, standing over a good amount of ground. She has a power of movement, easy mover with good carriage.
  2. Wheaten :  This  more mature girl was longer cast,  though not as well angled in shoulder, with tended to restrict her movement compared to #1

Open Bitch

The others were absent but  this 4 yr old was a lovely bitch to watch on the move.  Enjoyed her long easy fluid gait on a loose lead, sound coming and going. Excellent head planes long and clean.   I did forgive her somewhat soft topline, on the stack,  wishing to enjoying her easy movement.

 Bitch Challenge and RUBIS

I was most grateful to have been offered this appointment, I rarely judge Hounds in Australia and it was an interesting comparsion to the Irish Wolfhounds I have judged and or watched in Europe.
